Gabrielle Roth has devoted her life to dance, singing, poetry and theater. Her long-term study of these subjects led, among other things, to the development of the 5 rhythms (5Rhythms®). The 5 rhythms is a movement meditation and free dance form in which a dancer moves through five different rhythms, which together form a wave of movement or a wave. The 5Rhythms are flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. In 1987, Roth founded 'The Moving Center' in California, an umbrella organization for the 5Rhythms with branches in New York and Europe.
Gabrielle was the artistic director of her dance, theater and music company the 'Mirrors' and had her own recording studio Raven Recording, founded with her husband, Robert Ansell. She has produced 20 albums and three DVDs. In addition, she has written three books, two of which have been translated into Dutch.

The 5Rhythms is currently being practiced by many thousands of people around the world. Although a seemingly simple process, it nevertheless allows deep and infinite explorations, moving the dancer beyond self-imposed limitations and isolation to new depths of creativity and connection.
Each rhythm - Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness - is interpreted by individuals in a unique personal way, opening them to a new sense of freedom and possibilities that is both surprising and healing, exciting and profoundly recovering. It is essentially 'practicing for the right brain'.
